The seeds of Living Streets Northampton were sown in October 2020, when a group of people got together online during the pandemic.
We were excited by the improvements other towns and cities were making to their infrastructure for cycling and walking, using the government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund. And we all shared a deep disappointment at the lack of any meaningful change in Northampton.
Independent polls in Northampton show that the majority of people support the reallocation of road space for cycling and walking, but unfortunately it’s often the noisy minority that gets the attention.
We talk to councillors and council officers, and we’ve been building support and awareness through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and this website.
